A centre for oyster and mussel production the earliest fishermen here lived in troglodyte caves along the shore. There is a beach in the village, which also has an attractive harbour and plenty of cafes, bars and restaurants to recuperate in. There is a popular museum in the town to explain the history and techniques of the production of oysters and mussels in the Etang de Thau.
